Christmas in November 2024
A Heartwarming Celebration of Giving in Barangay 79, Tondo, Manila
The spirit of Christmas arrived early in Barangay 79, Tondo, Manila, as the recently concluded Christmas in November event brought joy, laughter, and hope to over 200 underprivileged children and their families. Held on November 23, Saturday, this heartfelt project not only gave out 400 toys to children, but also offered a festive atmosphere filled with games, food, and a sense of community.
A Day of Fun and Generosity
The event began with a game of chance, where lucky kids had the chance to win cash prizes. Some went home with as much as P100, while others still received P20 as a token of appreciation for their participation. The excitement of the game was just the beginning of a day full of joy and surprises.
The highlight of the day was the distribution of toys and snacks. With the participation of over 200 children, each attendee received a gift of their choice. For many, this was the first time they received a toy for Christmas, and their smiles said it all. Additionally, snacks including sandwiches and juice were provided to all participants, with some even taking home extra treats for their siblings and loved ones who could not attend.
Though participants were required to have a gift stub to claim their presents, even those without one were not left out. The generosity of the event organizers ensured that every child received a gift, and no one was turned away. It was a beautiful sight to see children enjoying the day and their presents, as the event created lasting memories for families in Barangay 79.
A Collaborative Effort
The success of Christmas in November was made possible through the collective effort of numerous sponsors and volunteers, particularly the lead sponsors—the Tau Gamma Phi National Grand Council (NGC) USA and Triskelions of Northern California, Inc. Their unwavering support was instrumental in bringing this event to life. Special thanks go to the local chapters who joined hands with the lead sponsors, including the San Sebastian Triskelion Alumni Guild (SSTAG) and Panday Pira Chapter, whose members dedicated their time and effort to ensure the event ran smoothly.
Other NGC chapters, including Alaska RGC, Central California GC, Hawaii RGC, Inland Empire RGC, Las Vegas RGC, San Diego RGC (Bay Area Chapter), NGC-Tau Gamma Sigma, and the Western Overseas Cluster of the TGP Global, also contributed generously, demonstrating the strength of the community's unity and commitment to giving back.
A special mention also goes to Triskelion Cares of California and the TGP Party List, both of whom co-sponsored the event and made a significant contribution. Bro. Nathan Nario and Bro. Mon Alina contributed their share from Triskelion Cares and TGP Party list provided 100 packs of 3 kilos of rice each, further extending the reach of kindness to the families in need.
Acknowledging Our Volunteers and Leaders
The event would not have been the success it was without the leadership and coordination of several key individuals. Bro. Arthur "Thorax" Loreto, the lead coordinator from the Panday Pira Chapter, played a crucial role in organizing the event and ensuring everything ran smoothly. Bro. Gerald Ducanes, Chairman of SSTAG, was also instrumental in rallying support and organizing the volunteers—additionally, Bro. Art Liguidliguid represented the National Grand Council, witnessing firsthand the joy that this event brought to the community.
Gratitude to Barangay Leadership
The support of local leadership was vital to the success of this project. Barangay Chairman Rod Dino graciously allowed the event to take place within the barangay, and his cooperation made the entire initiative possible. The presence of Bro. Col. Jun Ibay, who attended the event, also added to the significance of the occasion.
Looking Ahead
As the holiday season approaches, Christmas in November serves as a reminder of the power of community, generosity, and compassion. Through the combined efforts of volunteers, sponsors, and local leaders, the event left an indelible mark on the hearts of all who participated. For the children of Barangay 79, it was a Christmas to remember—a day filled with toys, smiles, and the warmth of a community that cares.
The organizers and sponsors of “Christmas in November” extend their heartfelt thanks to everyone involved, and look forward to continuing their mission of giving, particularly in the spirit of Christmas, throughout the year.
